 It all started with an open challenge. Santino Marella issued an open challenge to ANYONE in the locker room. The challenge was accepted by Beth Phoenix. Beth was able to defeat Santino with a roll up in quick fashion. The following week Santino furiously told everyone that "He does not fight people with fallopian tubes. He fights people with Adam’s apples" and re-issued the challenge to any man in the locker room.
 D'Lo Brown took up the challenge with Beth following him to the ring to get a look at the action. Santino loses his match to D'Lo in quick fashion, which brings Beth into the ring. As Santino tries to beg off Beth, she smacks him with a huge forearm. They then trade waist lock's in what is probably the most intense minute in Raw history, before finally separating and then to the shock of everyone, including themselves, they kissed!
Both Santino & Beth tried to deny their feelings for each other, claiming that it meant nothing, they tried to act professional around each other, but after winning mixed tag team match, both have a very nervous moment with each other, they don't know how to congratulate each other on their win. Santino obviously was looking for another kiss, puckering up while Beth's back was turned. When Beth caught Santino out, she shouted at him, telling him to keep it professional, he began to leave but Beth, having second thoughts, grabbed Santino and planted a huge kiss on him.
 The pair began to refer to each other as good friends, when asking the Raw general manger for title shots at the Summerslam PPV, they both wanted a shot at their respective titles, Beth the women's championship & Santino the Intercontinental championship. The GM decided that while they both wanted shots, there was only one match to be announced for the PPV, so it was decided that Beth & Santino would team up against Mickie James & Kofi Kingston, the reigning champions. Before the pay per view, Beth had a warm up match against Kelly Kelly with her new beau Santino sitting on commentary. Beth simply destroyed Kelly, and Santino urged her to inflict more damage on Kelly, but they were interrupted by Mickie James and Kofi Kingston who made the save.
Santino soon took the opportunity to make a challenge, to which Kofi quickly accepted. Santino was quick to tell Kofi that it was Mickie he was making the challenge to because, If he is going to wrestle a woman at SummerSlam, he needs some practice to know where he can put his hands. Annoyed at Santino's remarks towards her, Mickie accepts the challenge. Beth, showing her worth to Santino attacked Mickie and helped Santino pick up a win going into Summerslam.
  Before Santino & Beth even went into their match at Summerslam, they had a run in with Maria, who Santino said, had let herself go since he dumped her. She was quick to point out his new uni-brow, to which Santino responded, telling Maria that he did some "manscaping" because it drove Beth wild. Beth, who had been staring a whole into Maria the whole interview, told her that she'd had her chance but now Santino was "All hers". Santino & Beth were able to pull out a victory while Mickie was distracted with Santino, Beth hit her from behind, and hit her Glam Slam on Mickie for the win. Santino & Beth were ecstatic over their win. After the match, Beth once again showed her incredible strength, putting Santino on her shoulders as the celebrated up the ramp way. In a post PPV video, Beth and Santino dubbed themselves and their relationship "Glamarella", combining the first part of Glamazon and the last part of Marella, following in the footsteps of the Hollywood trend of couple's names like Bennifer & Brangelina.
 While everything may have seemed fine and dandy in Glamarella world, things were soon about to be turned upside down. Beth had a match with Kelly Kelly, with Santino ringside, while Kelly was taking the fight to Beth, Beth thought she had things under control, and when Santino tried to save her from an attack in the corner, Beth got angry, long enough for Kelly to roll Beth up for a quick victory over the champion. Beth was furious, and when Santino tried to apologise, Beth got so mad, she attacked Santino and kicked him out of the ring sending him running for the hills while Beth seethed in the ring.
 Later in the evening, Santino had to defend his intercontinental title, which he was obviously not happy about, given the events from earlier in the evening. Kofi Kingston was a very tough opponent, and when Santino thought that he wasn't going to win the match, he dived out of the ring ans headed back up the ramp, only to be confronted by Beth, who told him to get his ass back in the ring. She then proceeded to help Santino win his match against Kofi. She wasn't done yet though. After the match she got in the ring and backed Santino into a corner, where he expected her to hit him once again for costing her the match earlier, but she leaned in and kissed him. When Santino realised that she wasn't mad, he proclaimed for everyone to hear "She's not mad! She still loves me!"
 Beth & Santino soon found themselves being insulted by Randy Orton for their relationship. Santino & Beth responded with their own insults to Orton, claiming that Beth & Santino were champions and unlike Orton, they weren't always injured. Batista soon made his way to the ring to plead his case in becoming the number one contender to the World Heavyweight Championship. He proceeds to attack all the males in the ring and gives Santino a spinebuster, which pisses Beth off, and she slaps him and begins yelling at him, before giving him another slap. This prompts Batista to give Beth a spinebuster onto Santino leaving Glamarella laying. This set off a mini feud with Batista, when he came out to defend Kelly Kelly when Beth & Santino were going to team together to beat her up. Santino later goes one on one with Batista, with him destroying Santino in record time.
 Cracks in Glamarella started to show when Beth caught Santino on the phone to someone, who he claimed to be "A sick kids called Frankie", Beth told Santino she didn't want him ringside for her match, because whenever he is, she loses. These cracks began to be healed when Beth defeated Candice Michelle at No Mercy 2008 to retain her title, and the Raw when Glamarella defeated Mickie James and Jamie Noble. Glamarella put up a solid front in preparation for Santino's match with either Roddy Piper, Golddust or Honky Tonk Man. Santino made a statement to the trio of potential opponents by hitting "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan with a guitar.
 It was announced that Santino would wrestle Honky Tonk Man at Cyber Sunday, the man who Santino set his Honk A Meter after, for this reason Santino deemed the match very important and one he intended on winning. Beth obviously intended on him winning the match as well, when only a few minutes into the match, she tripped the Honky Tonk Man to try and give Santino the advantage, but the referee saw Beth trip him and ended the match, disqualifying Santino. Santino and Beth had an argument ringside when Beth tried to explain she was trying to help but Santino wouldn't have any of it. They came together again when Charlie Haas imitated Beth, dressing just like her, making Santino furious, he attacked Haas. It seemed that whenever Santino and Beth fight, they later show up more loved up than before.
 Soon there was a battle Royal to determine the number one contender to Santino's intercontinental championship, William Regal won the battle royal, and the following week Regal cashed in his opportunity. He took on Santino in his home country. Regal made quick work of Santino defeating him for his prized intercontinental title and ending Santino's Honk A Meter. Later in the evening backstage, Santino lets Beth know that Shane McMahon has made a title match for later tonight where Beth will defend her belt against Mickie James. Beth, obviously furious, throws Santino's phone against a wall and leaves. With a little bit of help from Santino, Beth defeated Mickie James to retain her title.
 Beth soon had many things to worry about, when Melina Perez returned to the ring after an injury and a new Beth Phoenix Super Fan began showing up on Raw every week in the audience. Santino, while trying to help Beth intimidate Melina, tried to do Melina's split leg ring entrance, only to hurt himself in his "special area". Santino later identified Beth's biggest fan as Rosa Mendes, although claimed that she was Santino's biggest fan, to which she protested.
